Interested in working in the skilled trades but not sure how to get started?
The Bluejacket Builders Crew Ready Program gives students and young adults an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn real-world carpentry skills, and prove they have what it takes to build a career in the trades.
You don’t need to know everything on Day One. You just need to be ready to learn.

HOW CREW READY WORKS
Crew Ready is a 3-week evaluation and development program built around three qualities we believe every successful tradesperson needs:
WEEK 1 — RELIABILITY
Show up. Be prepared. Be someone your crew can count on.
We focus on punctuality, attitude, safety, following instructions, and being ready to work.
WEEK 2 — GROWTH
Ask questions. Accept coaching. Get better every day.
You’ll learn new skills, work alongside experienced professionals, and show that you can take feedback and apply what you’ve learned.
WEEK 3 — OWNERSHIP
Take responsibility. Pay attention to details. Be part of the team.
You’ll begin taking greater ownership of your work while demonstrating communication, teamwork, and growing independence.

START WITH THE BASICS
Before entering Crew Ready, applicants complete a basic hands-on carpentry skills assessment covering areas such as:
- Measuring and layout
- Basic power tool use
- Cutting accuracy
- Blueprint and plan reading
- Following instructions
- Jobsite safety
We’re not looking for master carpenters.
We’re looking for people with the right attitude, a willingness to learn, and the drive to improve.
WHERE CAN IT LEAD?
At the end of the three weeks, we’ll review your progress together.
Successful participants may earn the opportunity to continue working with Bluejacket Builders and keep building their career in residential construction.
The trades aren’t a backup plan. They’re a career. And everybody has to start somewhere.
